Overview

For a short strength session, water is enough and this tub stays on the shelf. It comes down for the long runs: the summer trail days when I am out for two or three hours and need carbohydrate and sodium in a form my stomach accepts while moving.

There is a precise legal definition of a carbohydrate-electrolyte solution: how much carbohydrate per liter, how much of it fast, how much sodium, and how concentrated the drink can be. We are formulating to that definition rather than to a marketing word like hydration, because the definition is what makes the wording on the label lawful.

The planned mix is dextrose and maltodextrin for the carbohydrate, sodium chloride and sodium citrate for the salt, and a little potassium and magnesium. No stimulants, no colors.

Who it is for, and precautions

General information about a planned product, not advice for you. A pharmacist or doctor knows your medicines; we do not.

Adults doing prolonged endurance exercise. It is sugar and salt and should be used as such.

  • If you follow a sodium-restricted diet or have a kidney complaint, ask a doctor before use.
  • This is a drink for exercise, not for rest days.

Questions

Why is there sugar in it?

Because the carbohydrate is the point during long exercise, and the register's definition starts from it. A zero-carbohydrate electrolyte powder is a different product with much weaker footing.

Can I use it on a normal day?

You can, but there is no reason to. Water and food do that job.
